Shirlene Song is a Managing Director of Ascent Real Estate Investor (“Ascent”), a real estate investment firm she founded together with her team from the Carlyle Group. Prior to Ascent, Ms. Song was a Managing Director at Carlyle as a key member of its Asia Real Estate team. She was responsible for sourcing, acquisition, asset management and disposition of commercial properties on behalf of Carlyle and its funds and separate accounts between 2008 and 2018. Prior to Carlyle, Ms. Song was a member of the Principal Transaction Group at Morgan Stanley in New York, where she focused on originating commercial real estate debts. Prior to that, Ms. Song worked as a business analyst at JP Morgan Chase.
Ms. Song studied in Beijing University and Cornell University for her undergraduate degree and graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University. She received her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
